How can God break the power of addiction in my life?

Romans 8:5-9 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him

God can break the power of addiction in your life when you give him control. He will come into your life and change your heart and your desires.

Surrender to the Holy Spirit, and God will replace addictive drives with life-affirming desires.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

I John 4:4 You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 

I John 5:4-5 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 

Freedom comes as we change our focus and change our minds. We do this by trusting in Christ and experiencing the power he brings into our lives.

How do I ask God to help me be free of an addiction?

I Peter 5:6,7 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

Admit your need to God in prayer, release all your all your anxites to him, and rely fully on the promise of God's help
