Seek great things for Christ

Let us seek great things for Christ and nor for ourselves

Jer 45:5 Should you then seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For I will bring disaster on all people, declares the LORD, but wherever you go I will let you escape with your life.'"

The smallest chapter in Jeremaih but containing a great lesson for all of us.

God's just judgments were about to be fulfilled, disaster was coming on the people. It was no time for any of God's servants to be seeking great things for themselves. Actually God's servants should never seek great things for themselves especially perhaps in our day when there is reason to believe that the end of this age is near, and that God's wrath is soon to bring disaster on the world. 

God's people selfishly seeking position,money, power, and man's honors is madness. Would it not be madness to be hanging a record of one's honors and greatness on the walls of the house when the house is on fire and the roof is about to collapse? But, alas, it is a madness one sees everywhere. 

Phi 2:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Let us see that God's command to Baruch is for us too,

and learn always to be God-seekers, not self-seekers.

Let us see great things for Christ and for ourselves.

And let us learn and apply the truth of Matt 10:38,39 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. "He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.

Matthew 6:25

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?

Romans 12:16

Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

2 Kings 5:26
