And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous. Exodus 23:8 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name [was] Delilah. Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation. 

 Daniel 5:16-17 Thy princes [are] rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
