Where we came from

Above all else, Genesis says this:God did it

Gen 2:7 The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being

What is a human being? Who are we? Ever since the beginning of the human race we have asked this question, and the answers given by the various religions of the world are quite different.

Is man merely Animal?

Some people believe that we are nothing more than animals - highly developed animals.

We have no spirits or souls that last beyond death.
This view is not common among most people, but it has arisen with the coming of modern science.

This view, commonly called evolution, denies that there is a God who created all things.

It teaches that everything evolved over years and years of history. Small forms of life developed first; they matured to more complex forms of life; and finally man developed as the most advanced animal on earth.

Most people believe that man more than an animal, however.

They believe that he is first of all a spirit of that this spirit lives after his body dies.

The religion of Hinduism teaches that the spirit of is really part of the great, universal force or god.
Life goes on through an almost endless cycle of births and deaths.

Karma, that irrevocable law, determines that what we are in this life was determined by the good or bad deeds we did i the previous life.

Created in the likeness of God

In contrast to this, the Bible teaches that man is totally unique among all God's creatures.
We are the only beings created in the image and likeness of God.

We are given the capability of being friends of God, of talking with him and communing with him as one person to another.

After making all the wonderful things of the world, god finished with his greatest creative act, the creation of man and woman.

And God put them in charge of everything.
